UEFA Approves Nine International Game In A year

The number of international matches are played each year will experience a reduction after the European clubs and UEFA approved the proposal change the international calendar.

This agreement, which is still awaiting the approval of FIFA, will reduce the number of international matches from 12 to 9.

It was announced at the European Clubs' Association (ECA). Last year, the clubs asked for international matches is reduced from 12 to 6.

UEFA also approved insurance to cover the salaries of the players who are injured during the defense of his country's national team from Euro 2012.

"The agreement with UEFA is an important breakthrough. With this, UEFA recognizes the interests of the club and their contribution to the success of the national team," said ECA chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
